Who is eligible to apply for the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Fellows Scholarship?

The scholarship is open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are currently enrolled or accepted to an accredited four-year college or university, pursuing a degree in STEM or business-related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Eligible fields include Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Environmental Science, Healthcare Technology, and related disciplines. If you’re unsure about your major, please contact us.

Must be 18 yrs. + to apply., must be a rising sophomore by August 2026.

Application process closes on May 31, 2026. We encourage applicants to submit early to avoid any technical issues near the deadline.

Required documents include official or unofficial transcripts, proof of enrollment or acceptance letter, two letters of recommendation and essay responses.

No. Once you start the application, you must complete it in one sitting. We suggest you formulate your essay responses and gather your supporting documents before starting the application. Doing so should limit the time it takes to complete the process.

We ask that you upload your two letters of recommendation in the application as PDF files. Letters of recommendations must include telephone numbers and email addresses of signees.

The Jackson Fellows Scholarship awards $75,000 total over three years ($25,000 per year). Winners of the scholarship will also have a chance at one of two internship opportunities with Toyota Motor North America or a partner organization.

Scholarship funds are distributed annually at the beginning of each academic year, directly to your educational institution to be applied toward tuition and educational expenses.

Those awarded scholarships will have a chance to secure one of two internship positions.

Yes, the scholarship is renewable for up to three years, provided scholars maintain satisfactory academic progress (minimum 3.0 GPA) and fulfill program requirements.

Applications are reviewed by a selection committee that evaluates academic achievement, leadership potential, community involvement, financial need, and alignment with program values. Finalists are invited for interviews.

We will award ten (10) scholarships during this three-year cycle. Each scholarship will total $75,000 and will be distributed in $25,000 annual payments directly to the educational institution.

Finalists will be contacted for interviews in July, and all recipients will be announced in August, before the fall semester begins.

Yes, if you’re not selected, you’re welcome to reapply in future application cycles as long as you still meet the eligibility requirements.
